CAMBA GARDENS
Brooklyn, NY
for CAMBA Housing Ventures, Inc.
CAMBA Gardens, completed in 2015, consists of two 6-story buildings with 209 units of supportive housing, including studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. The building includes social and support spaces such as a computer room, meeting rooms, and a teaching kitchen.
The terrace, located at the fourth floor provides a tranquil seating area with an intensive green roof. The site also features urban farming plots and extensive planting, and includes a garden shed where tenants can hold a green market. Photovoltaic panels are installed on both main roofs.
The lobbies feature living walls. The buildings are located on the Kings County Hospital campus and feature pre-patina copper panels to reflect some of the older architecture on the campus.
The development received a LEED Platinum Certification and it is part of Enterprise Green Communities. It received an Urban Land Institute 2018 Award for Excellence in Housing Development and was featured in Oculus Magazine.
